FREE Internet at Starbucks - How to get free wireless internet at Starbucks
By OregonWino
I hope you are prepared to become a wifi-jacking-ninja-java-assasin for this one.....
Actually, this is just a really cool perk that Starbucks offers but which almost no-one knows how to take advantage of...AND it is totally FREE! VERY easy to do and it will not cost you a dime (you don't even have to buy a coffee each time if you don't want to...cheapskate ;)
UPDATE!!! As of about a year ago, this has changed! Starbucks now offers FREE WIFI for everyone EVEN without a Starbucks card registered and it is SUPER EASY! Just follow the steps below!
Starbucks uses AT&T (at least in the US) and it is a system called a captive portal. This sounds complex but it is VERY easy
Step 1- Open up your wifi access console (where you see and choose the wifi network that you want to connect to and choose "ATTWIFI."

Step 2 - Open Your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, your android or Blackberry browser if you have a smartphone etc.) When your browser loads it SHOULD bring up a page that have the Starbucks logo on it and a little check box that you agree to their terms and conditions (i.e. they are not responsible for anything and don't do anything illegal etc.) Click the check-box and click the submit button. IF you do not get this webpage then you want to hit the refresh key or reload and see if that prompts the access-page. For some reason when I have Bing.com set as my homepage, I have to go to another website first to get this access page, my guess is it has something to do with the site being cached...so if you do not get it, try going to www.google.com etc.
Step 3- The next page that loads SHOULD be a splash page of random Starbucks related info. You should now be able to click on your home key or type in www.google.com or whatever URL you want to go to and it should work no problem.
